Patrolman Jenkins was shot and killed while responding to a prowler call on the South Side. When he confronted the suspect he was fatally wounded. He was able to return fire, fatally wounding the suspect as well.

Patrolman Jenkins had been with the agency for two years.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
