P. O. Jackson and I were in the police academy together. My star was #12438. I remember him being quite a jovial guy. The night he was shot I was working and responded to the call. When I learned it was Erwin I was totally shocked. He was the first of several officers I personally knew who were killed in the line of duty. It was a sad time for all of us that night and the days that followed. RIP my friend.
