Harold Hurst

Deputy Hurst was killed when his patrol car was struck by a Pacific Railroad freight train at a rail crossing on Fowler Avenue.

He was thrown from the vehicle and suffered severe injuries resulting in his death four days later.

Deputy Hurst was a U.S. Army veteran. He had been in law enforcement for five years and served with the sheriff's department for two years. He was survived by his wife and two daughters from a previous marriage.

On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
