I had the privilege of knowing and working around "Dee" all during those riot years in East Los Angeles Patrol. He was a cops, cop, hard working, dedicated, sharp and of course had a great sense of humor which sometimes is all we have to help us make sense of the world we lived in.
He saw a new opportunity when Lynwood Sheriff's opened its doors and felt he could make a difference. While his path took him to Lynwood, my path took me to Academy Training as did the path of his old partner in ELA, Bob Ouellette. The week I transferred from the Academy to Emergency Services Detail was the same week Dee left us.
To his Widow, Mary and his family, I still think of him often and he lives with us all in our hearts.
