To my Best Friend:

Mart, the last time I saw you was 41 years ago on Saturday morning June 14, 1975 @ 7:30 A.M. I had not seen you for almost a year due to a dispute you and I had concerning a friend of ours. Out of the blue, there was a knock at my apartment door. I got out of bed, opened the door, and was STUNNED to see you standing there in full uniform.

I asked where in the hell did you come from. You told me that, on your way home from your overnight shift, you had a strange feeling that you really had to see me. You didn't know why, and I could have cared less because I was so happy to finally see you again.

We sat on the couch, talked of old times, partook of some old memories, and we had such a good time being together again.

After about 3 hours or so, you looked at your watch and told me you had to go home and get some sleep so you could serve your shift on Saturday night/Sunday morning. We made plans to get together again and then you left for home. I had a smile on my face that day no one could wipe off.

Little did I know that our 3 hour meeting would be our last. The next morning I sadly found out that you had been hit by a car and had suffered massive injuries.. STUNNED again that day as it sunk in that your injuries would be the end of your life and we would never see each other again. The hospital declared you dead on Monday, June 16.

To this day. I scrutinize and soul-search the cause of YOUR SUDDEN IDEA to see me one last time right before you left this Planet Earth forever. I also thank God for the out of nowhere force of nature that reunited us one last time!! It haunts me to this day. Spooky in the least. As you can tell, I miss you very much. You had an impact on the world Mart. Who could ask for more in a lifetime?

Today I am one year closer to our being reunited in spirit. I pray that it will work out that way.

Peace and love to you Mart!! YOU ARE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW YOU. 41 years is hard to believe as our memories are so fresh in my mind.
