Officer Huber succumbed to injuries sustained 7 weeks earlier when he was assaulted while on duty. He and his partner had responded to a fight call and when they arrived Officer Huber was attacked by two men. As a result of his injuries he started to develop headaches. He was admitted to the hospital three weeks after the attack and remained there until his death 4 weeks later.

Officer Huber had served with the Detroit Police Department for 2 years. He was survived by his wife and daughter.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 60th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.
