Patrolman John Higgins was killed in a motorcycle accident while on patrol in the town of Southborough. He had just left the Framingham Barracks when his motorcycle collided with an automobile on Framingham Road and Newton Street.

Patrolman Higgins had been with the agency for nine months.

Today, April 14, 2016 the Massachusetts State Police takes a moment to honor and remember MSP Patrolman John E. Higgins on this his 88th anniversary. May he continue to rest in peace knowing that his memory and sacrifice have not been forgotten.
