Patrolman Hickman was shot and killed after responding to a disturbance at a bar. When they arrived on the scene they were advised that a man with mental problems was inside with a shotgun. After talking with the suspect for several minutes to gain trust, Patrolman Hickman entered the bar. When he did so the suspect opened fire, striking him in the chest. Patrolman Hickman's partner returned fire, wounding the suspect.

I'll never forget that night, you had just started your shift. We always met at Roadway Inn on Hwy 80 & Elllis Ave. in the restaurant to have coffee along with Brewer. You never made that call that night for me to meet you......I just found this on google, I was tellin my husband now about you! You were a wonderful boyfriend, I never got completely over that.
