Patrolman Haubert was killed in an automobile accident while transporting an injured woman and her husband to a hospital. The cruiser went out of control on the slippery highway and struck another vehicle head-on. All three occupants of the police vehicle were killed as well as two occupants of the other vehicle.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 48th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Your memory will always be honored and revered.
