Officer william Halloran was shot by a convicted career burglar whom he had arrested in the past. The offender wanted revenge agains Officer Halloran, and vowed that he would kill the officer should Officer Halloran arrest him again. When Officer Halloran confronted the offender, he was shot. He died the following day.
