Officer Frank Gwiazdowski was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver at Boswell Avenue and Hickory Street while en route to police headquarters.
The driver was apprehended approximately ten minutes later and charged with manslaughter.
Officer Gwiazdowski was survived by his wife. His brother also served as a supernumerary officer in the department.
