Carl Right Grooms

Marshal Grooms was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a man for fighting. During the arrest the man's brother told the officers to let the man go or he would shoot them. As the officers complied the suspect raised his gun. Marshal Grooms fired at the man, who returned fire, and both were fatally wounded.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 102nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
