Patrolman Andrew Grennan drowned while on a guard post on Pier 4 in Wallabout Basin. He was protecting a load of 200 half-barrels of beer that had been seized in a raid several days earlier.

He was walking around the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad float that was tied up to the pier when he stumbled, struck his head, and fell into the water.

Patrolman Grennan was assigned to the 46th Precinct.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.
