Correctional Officer Robert Barchey was killed when the bus he was riding in was struck head on by a tractor trailer which had jack-knifed.

Officer Barchey was transporting a prisoner when the accident occurred.

I should have been on the bus with you that day but I wasn't. Guess it wasn't my time. I think about you often and miss you. Such a horrible thing to have happen but I will forever have fond memories of our friendship. My best wishes and sincerest apologies go out to Dennis. He sacrificed and should not have been there....
