Chief of Police Albert Graves was shot and killed after responding to a domestic disturbance at 1:00 am.

Prior to his arrival at the scene the husband had already left and the wife had setup an ambush in a bush in front of the home. When Chief Graves arrived the woman opened fire on him, thinking it was her husband. Although mortally wounded, Chief Graves was able to return fire and struck the woman in the leg.

The woman was tried three times and finally convicted of murdering Chief Graves. She was sentenced to seven years in prison but was released after serving only one year.
