Patrolman Michael Grab succumbed to injuries sustained the previous day when he was struck by a streetcar while directing traffic.
The incident occurred while he was working his corner at Sixth Avenue and Wood Street. He was rushed to Allegheny General Hospital where he succumbed to his injures the following day.
Patrolman Grab served with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for more than 10 years and was assigned to the Central Police Station, present-day Zone 2 Police Station Hill District. He was survived by his wife, and three children.
