Officer Gordon was shot and killed while investigating four men he suspected of committing several robberies. Although mortally wounded, he was able to identify the suspects from his death bed in the hospital.

Officer Gordon had served with the agency for 2.5 years.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 98th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect, not even 98 years.
