Charles L. Glafcke

Patrolman Charles Glafcke was shot and killed by a vagrant on the city's south side while waiting for a patrol wagon to arrive. The suspect was captured after a three hour chase in the winter snow.

The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. On June 24, 1931, he was executed by electrocution.

Patrolman Glafcke had served with the Michigan City Police Department for 20 years. He was survived by his four children.
