Roland A. Gill

Detective Gill was shot and killed while he and several other officers investigated a burglary call at a local store. When they arrived they were met with gunfire and Detective Gill was struck in the mouth twice and once in the chest. The suspect was also shot and wounded. He was taken into custody, convicted of Detective Gill's murder, and executed.

On today, the 85th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of of Durham. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
