Police Officer Mark Filer died from injuries sustained in a vehicle crash one week before.
His cruiser was struck head-on by a pickup truck that was trying to make a left at the intersection of Ridge Road and Hawkes Road in Damascus.
Officer Filer had served with the Montgomery County Police Department for seven years. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
