Officer Gibbs was a member of the decoy unit, and after setting up an operation they moved in on a suspect for arrest. When officer Gibbs apprehended the suspect he placed him on the hood of his car so he could be searching. As Officer Gibbs was conducting the search, another suspect walked up behind him and fired, killed Officer Gibbs. The suspect later surrendered to police and was sentenced to life in prison with no parole. Officer Gibbs was survived by his wife and three daughters. |
