Patrolman Harry Francois was shot and killed when he attempted to arrest a wanted suspect. The offender produced a revolver and shot Patrolman Francois.

Three of the killers were sentenced to death and a fourth was sentenced to life in prison.

The Chicago Park District Police in the City of Chicago was disbanded in 1957. Remaining officers were transferred to the Chicago Police Department through an intergovernmental agreement. Fallen officers are currently honored on the memorial wall of the Chicago Police Department as Chicago Police Officers.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 72nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
