I am a retired DPS officer. I worked with Steve for several years. I was stationed in Memphis before transferring to Amarillo. Steve and I became very good friends and enjoyed being around him. He had a kind heart for everyone. Steve came down to Amarillo from from Stratford and we had lunch together. After lunch, I said bye to him and told him to be safe. The next day I was at home watching the evening news when the news anchor mentioned Steve's name. My heart broke and sank down to my stomach. I was in shock. I broke down and I had to call DPS communication to confirm that Steve was gone because I could not believe it. Miss you Steve. May God bless you. See you in heaven my friend.
