He was traveling with officers from two other agencies at the time of the accident. The officers were traveling Southbound on Highway 41, in Coffee County, Tennessee when Detective Foster's car was struck head on by a coal truck. Detective Foster was pronounced dead at the scene. The other officers and prosecutor were injured and taken to Nashville General Hospital for treatment.
