Patrolman Vernon Fortin succumbed to injuries received five days earlier when he and another officer were involved in a motorcycle accident. The officers' handlebars became entangled on Hannegan Road as the two were reporting for patrol duty in Lynden.

Patroman Fortin had served with the agency for one year.

I was reading the bulletin put out today remembering you. I came to this page to see if anyone in your family may have left a reflection here. I don't see any and wonder if your relatives even know you are remembered here. You had a great smile and appear to be a great guy. Sad you had to leave so soon.

ODMP is participating in the CrowdRise Giving Tower Holiday Challenge, an annual fundraising competition that runs from November 24th through January 7th and raises millions of dollars for charity.
