Sergeant Jeff Richardson was killed in an accident crash while responding to assist a Sharp County Sheriff's Department deputy involved in a vehicle pursuit on U.S. Highway 167, north of Cave City.

During his response, another car turned in front of him, causing a collision. Sergeant Richardson and the driver of the other vehicle were both killed.

Sergeant Richardson had served with the Cave City Police Department for 2.5 years. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and parents.
