Chief of Police Thomason was shot and killed while making a traffic stop of a drunk and reckless driver on US Highway 78. The suspect is serving a life sentence without parole after pleading guilty to capital murder.
Chief Thomason had been with the agency for 18 years and was survived by his wife and three children.
