Officer Fisher was shot and killed while attempting to serve a warrant on a suspect in an apartment on K Street, SE. As the team attempted to force open the door the suspect opened fire, striking Officer Fisher in the head and another officer in the neck. The suspect ran back into the apartment but surrendered without further incident.
Officer Fisher had been with the agency for ten months and was survived by his expectant wife and one child.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the forty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
