Officer Gus Spanos was shot while making a traffic stop. Early in the morning of April 22, he stopped a car on North Cincinnati Avenue. A back up officer found Officer Spanos lying next to his patrol car with a bullet wound to the head. Officer Spanos was transported to a local hospital where he died the next day.

The suspect fled the state but was captured, convicted and is serving time in prison for Officer Spanos’ murder.
