Patrolman Finn was shot and killed while chasing three men he caught burglarizing a grain store. He began to chase the three men when one suddenly turned and shot him in the abdomen with a revolver.

Patrolman Finn succumbed to his wound 11 hours later.

The suspect was later apprehended, convicted of murder, and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Patrolman Finn was single and had served with the agency for 2 years.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and seventh anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
