Auxiliary Sergeant Noel Faide and Auxiliary Sergeant Larry Cohen were struck and killed by a drunk driver while stopped to investigate a derelict vehicle on the side of the New England Thruway in the Bronx.

The drunk driver was apprehended and charged with manslaughter. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Auxiliary Sergeant Faide was assigned to Highway 1. He was survived by his three children, grandchild, mother, and sister.

Thank you sir for your service, now and days it is not easy being a auxiliary police officer in new york but did you know I never knew who u was. Today I had to go to auxiliary headquarters for something and I looked on the wall of all the auxiliary police officers that had lost there lives while on duty. There shield were monumented together with a few beautiful words. I felt a broken to hear about all of u.then I decided to look up one of you on google.I picked your name first and I was again even more broken to see what happened. You may or may not ever see this comment but I salute you sgt. You are in a beautiful place. Leave the rest to me and the rest of the nypd officers. Thank you sir once again
