Elias Sanchez Enriquez

Sergeant Elias Enriquez drowned after falling into the California Aqueduct near Taft while on patrol.

He was walking along the canal wall, removing illegal fishing line, when he slipped and fell in approximately five miles southwest of the Buena Vista Golf Course. His body was recovered the following day.

Sergeant Enriquez was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
