Officer Enevold was shot and killed after responding to a call of a suspicious person. When Officer Enevold arrived, he confronted the suspect and a struggle ensued in which the suspect was able to gain control of Officer Enevold's gun and shot and killed him. The suspect was later apprehended, convicted of murder, and sentenced to life in prison on October 2, 1984.

Officer Enevold had been with the agency for almost 16 months and was survived by his wife.

Dennie, you are remembered as a kind and warm hearted Uncle, Friend and Officer of the Law whose life was taken in the line of duty. The impact of your passing and the violence wrecked havoc on our family. As a Child - I became angry with God and wanted vengeance for taking your sweet soul from us. Now that time has passed I've repaired my heart with God and still feel the impact of you never being in my life. The man who shot you has now passed away after 30 years in prison. I pray for your Sister to heal from her terrible pain of loving you so much and losing you, I pray for her to heal after carrying the burden of justice, hatred, anger, rage, and pain for so long. May everyone who has lost someone find peace and honor the love that was shared in the time available. May God watch over and keep you safe. Love always your nephew, Bryon
