Lieutenant Ellsworth was shot and killed at 0415 hours when he and other officers interrupted a burglary in progress at an auto shop on Meeting Street. As the officers approached the suspect opened fire, striking him in the chest.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
