Chief of Detectives Dull was accidentally shot and killed by a court bailiff while sitting in his office. The bailiff was in his office when he removed his .38 caliber weapon from its holster. When he did so it discharged, striking Detective Dull.
Chief of Detectives Dull was survived by his wife and daughter.

Please forgive me-in my last reflection I wrote that it was 48 years since you EOW and it's been 49 years since your EOW. I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Juneau. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
