Officer Duffy was shot and killed during a five block running gun battle with a burglary suspect.

Officer Duffy and five other officers chased the suspect when he ran from a cigar store at 2nd Avenue and 92nd Street. Another officer was shot in the hand and the suspect was shot three times and seriously wounded.

Officer Duffy was assigned to the 23rd Precinct.
