Trooper Brumett was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while recovering a tire from the center divider of I-15. He was assisting with a multiple vehicle accident at the time. The driver of the vehicle that struck him fled the scene on foot. The suspect was later apprehended and convicted of hit-and-run and driving without a license.
Trooper Brumett had been with the agency for nine months and was survived by his wife.
