Deputy Ed Drew was shot and killed while resisting a robbing of a saloon in Sanoratown. He was able to return fire and wound the suspect, who was later apprehended.
Deputy Drew was survived by his wife, three children, three brothers, and one sister. He is buried in Pearce Cemetery, Pearce, Cochise County, Arizona.
