Patrolman Dozier was killed in an automobile accident while responding to a report of an accident on the Wantagh Parkway on Long Island. His patrol car struck the rear of a slow-moving construction vehicle.

Patrolman Dozier was my next door neighbor growing up on Deer Lane in Wantagh. I remember hearing of his tragic death and I felt bad for his children who were my friends. He was an inspiration to me and I became a Colorado State Patrolman (Trooper) ten years later.
