Most Recent Reflection
View all 10 ReflectionsI am so touched and honored by the responses for Patrolman Dowling. This is the first time I have seen all of these incredible comments. My maternal grandmother was with the son of Patrolman James Dowling for over 50 years (also named James, as was his son) Patrolman Dowling was a great grandfather to me though I never met him. I heard the stories of Patrolman James throughout my life. When I joined NYPD in 1987, my CO at the time, DI Sheehan, made sure I was able to get his shield and wore it proudly until I retired in 2001. He also helped to get him added to the wall before we both retired, since Patrolman Dowling died while wearing our uniform. Thank you DI Sheehan for this lasting memory our family will have for generations to come.
For all of you who have commented on this reflection and prayed for our beloved great grandfather, James Dowling, our family can't thank you enough. You will always be in our heart. Forever be safe and be well.
