Auxiliary Trooper Truelove was killed when his patrol car was rear ended by a tractor trailer and burst into flames. He was calling in a disabled vehicle at the time of the accident. Prior to the accident he had directed the occupants of the disabled vehicle to climb onto a nearby embankment to stay out of harms way.
