Officer Herbert Dimon was killed in a motorcycle accident while responding to a call.

Another driver of a vehicle failed to yield the right of way and collided with him in an intersection.

Officer Dimon's death resulted in the redesign of the California Highway Patrol's motorcycle helmets.
