Deputy William Dillemuth was shot and killed while attempting to serve a warrant on a suspect.

The suspect was convicted of Deputy Dillemuth's murder and sentenced to life in prison. He will be eligible for parole in 2039.

Deputy Dillemuth had served with the Erie County Sheriff's Department for 23 years. He was survived by his son.

I still remember 28 yrs ago, watching the World Series and earthquake in San Francisco with you. You looked at me and said, " Donny, I could die tomorrow and be happy. Billy is playing ball like a Champ and everything is gooood". Billy D, you're still missed !
