Officer Vincent DeVivo suffered a fatal heart attack after being assaulted by a suspect.
Officer DeVivo was investigating a motor vehicle crash on September 17, 1962, after conducting his investigation, he placed one of the drivers under arrest for driving while intoxicated. During the arrest, a struggle ensued and Officer DeVivo was struck in the chest. He began to suffer severe chest pains and was taken to Huntington Hospital in critical condition. On October 28, 1962, Officer DeVivo suffered a fatal heart attack while at Huntington Hospital.
Officer DeVivo was survived by his wife, two children, parents, and two sisters.
