Deputy Davis was killed when the New Mexico State Police vehicle he was in swerved to avoid a collision and dropped off a six foot embankment. Deputy Davis had just aided the State Police Officer in an arrest and was accompanying him to another call when the accident occurred.
Deputy Davis was survived by his parents, brother and sister.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the forty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
