Patrolman Patrick Daley was found shot to death at 2:30 a.m. on Iowa Street near the intersection of Springfield Avenue.

He was walking home from the police station when it is believed he encountered a suspicious person attempting to open a door of a nearby home. He was shot when he called out to the man. No suspects were identified or apprehended.

Patrolman Daley was assigned to the 24th District.
