Trooper Creach was killed when an automobile being operated by an intoxicated driver struck him. Trooper Creach was directing traffic at the scene of an accident when he was struck.

Trooper Creach was survived by his expectant wife, who had a son one month later.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 68th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
