Clarence P. Cox, Jr.

Lieutenant Cox was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect wanted for escape and murdering a priest. The suspect was able to gain control of Lieutenant Cox's service weapon and shoot him with it. The suspect was later arrested in Jackson, Tennessee. He was sentenced to death but later murdered in prison by other death row inmates.

He was sucker punched and knocked out before his side arm was taken. I was flying in Air 3 that night. Lt Cox was a great man and because he treated the suspect with respect, this is what happened. If he had been aggressive, Lt would have been criticized; You know he was a golden glove champ in his younger days.
RIP Lt Cox, you were a great Policeman and human being.
