Patrolman Cooper died from a blood clot to the brain as a result of a gunshot. Patrolman Cooper was shot on Cooper Street after approaching two loiterers for questioning. One of them pulled a gun and began to fire striking Patrolman Cooper. Patrolman Cooper made it to a call box and notified his Desk Sergeant before collapsing.
