Thomas J. Duggan, Sr.

Patrolman Thomas Duggan was assaulted on his way to court when he approached a man and woman after they almost hit his vehicle near the intersection of Lowell Street and Boulevard.

The subjects became disorderly and assaulted Patrolman Duggan with an aluminum baseball bat. Patrolman Duggan attempted to take action and place the subjects under arrest. The male subject beat Officer Duggan to death with the bat while the female held his arms. Officer Duggan succumbed to his injuries three days later.

Officer Duggan had served with the Lawrence Police Department for 18 years. He was survived by his wife, three daughters, and son.
